An example of how neutral density filters can be used – on the day this was taken it was near midday and the sky was much too bright. Thus I used a hard grad neutral density filter to darken the sky.
Note this photo definitely isn’t the best – I remember my glitzo tripod nearly toppled over with the wind while taking this shot. Some people find they can hold their filters by hand in front of their lens – I tried this and it was definitely quite difficult. I used the Lee foundation holder with a tripod but of course it was difficult to carry all this around while walking around the lake.
